About Us

Founded by artist and activist Guylaine Conquet, Just Afro Inc. was born from lived experience and a deep belief: hair is heritage, not a handicap. For too long, our natural hair, our Afros, braids, twists, locs has been policed and punished. From children being sent home for their hairstyles to professionals denied jobs for wearing their hair naturally, hair discrimination is real, and it is global. Behind the pressure to conform lies an industry pushing harsh chemicals that put our health at risk with studies linking relaxers and straighteners to cancer, fibroids, and more. At Just Afro Inc., we say: Enough. We are a global nonprofit on a mission to end hair discrimination and raise awareness about the hidden dangers of chemical hair products, injustices that too often target Black communities and people of African descent everywhere.
